80-G-44540 Japanese Nagara Class light cruiser

Photo #: 80-G-44540 Japanese Nagara Class light cruiser
Title: Japanese Nagara Class light cruiser
Description: Hit in the stern during U.S. Navy carrier air attacks on shipping at Kwajalein Atoll, 4 December 1944. This ship is probably Isuzu, which was reportedly hit by two bombs, one of which knocked out her rudder (Morison, Volume VII, page 192). However, the track leading directly to the explosion area strongly indicates that a Mark XIII torpedo was responsible for the damage. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
