Description: USS Buchanan (DD-484) Refueling from USS Wasp (CV-7) while en route to the Guadalcanal-Tulagi invasion area, 3 August 1942. Buchanan is painted in Camouflage Measure 12 (Modified). Note the depth charges in stern racks and on K-Guns, fenders rigged along her sides, and the red refueling flag flying from her foremast. Also note the 5/38 gun aboard Wasp, in the lower left. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
