11 oversize photographs of the United States Naval Academy during the 19th century, donated by Miss Wadleigh to the Naval Historical Foundation in 1927, and later donated to the Naval History and Heritage Command. Scenes circa 1860 include: Superintendant’s House, Officer Quarters, Blake Row, Hospital, Recitation Hall, Midshipmen’s Quarters, Chapel, Mess Hall, Observatory, Mexican War Midshipmen’s Monument, midshipmen on parade, Dining Hall, Fort Severn. Scenes from later in the 19th century include: Armory, Gunnery Building. Photos by C.T. Jewell, Washington D.C., and Fischer and Bros., Baltimore, Maryland.
