Sir John Borlase Warren Knight of the Bath

A career naval officer, John Borlase Warren (1753-1822) achieved a number of successes in the wars with France, which included commanding blockades of the coast. In September 1812 he was appointed commander of the North American Station. He pursued a strategy of blockade on the United States coast, but complained bitterly to the British admiralty about the lack of resources to make it truly effective.
