Years of supplying resources to the “Global War On Terror,” resulted in the reduction of the Navy’s presence in the Pacific Ocean. Admiral Greenert sought to “rebalance” the Navy’s assets by increasing its presence and replacing or renovating older ships. Here USS George Washington (CVN-73) departs Yokosuka, Japan, returning to the United States for a period of “Refueling and Complex Overhaul,” seen from the deck of USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19).
