Vedette (Motor Boat)

1917-1918

The Navy retained the name carried by this small craft at the time of her acquisition.

(Motor Boat: length 32'0")

Vedette, a wooden-hulled, launch-type motor boat built in 1914 at Bayonne, N.J., by the Elco Co., was acquired by the Navy during the Great War [World War I] from the Panama Canal Co. for use as a section patrol boat. The vessel served in the Canal Zone for the duration of hostilities and was returned to her owner on 31 December 1918.
