Penacook I (YT-6)

A confederacy of Algonquian tribes along the Merrimac River in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The first Penacook (YT-6) was laid down 8 February 1898 by the New York Navy Yard; and launched 29 October 1898.

Assigned to the 1st Naval District, Penacook enjoyed a long career as yard tug for the Naval Station, Portsmouth, N.H. In her later service, she operated as YT-6. She was reclassified YTM-6 on 15 May 1944. In September 1945, she was marked for disposal. She was sold 12 August 1947.
