Onset (S. P. 1224)

A former name retained.

Onset a wooden motor boat built by Hacketts, Bayonne, N. J. in 1888 and rebuilt in 1910, was acquired by the Navy 15 June 1917 from W. H. Steelman, Chincoteague, Va. for use on patrol in the 5th Naval District during World War I. Operating out of Norfolk, she performed patrol duties until she decommissioned and was returned to her owner 21 December 1918.
