Murray I (S. P. 1438)

1917-1918

The first Murray retained the name she carried at the time of her acquisition.

(S.P. 1438: length 55'0"; beam 13'0"; draft 4'6"; speed 10 miles per hour; complement 6; armament none)

The first Murray, a motor boat, was built in 1915 by Chance Marine Construction Co., Annapolis, Md., for the Conservation Commission of the State of Maryland; loaned to the Navy; and ordered delivered on 17 August 1917. She was given the identification number S.P. 1438.

After service on patrol in the Fifth Naval District, Murray was returned to her owner 26 November 1918.
