Scope and Content Note
This historical collection of interviews, memoirs and scrapbook concerns Woody Williamson's experiences as an enlisted pilot in a utility squadron at Norfolk, Virginia, in the 1930s. Williamson flew the Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk, used as a parasite fighter on Navy dirigibles in the 1930s. As a pilot in a utility squadron at Norfolk Naval Air Station, he was required to test and evaluate aircraft, including the Sparrowhawk.
An oral history interview with Williamson, conducted by Bruce Terrell on 24 July 1992, and a videotaped interview, also conducted by Terrell on 5 June 1992, are held in the Oral History Collection.
