Description: U.S. Army Rangers resting in the vicinity of Pointe du Hoc, which they assaulted in support of Omaha Beach landings on D-Day, 6 June 1944. Photograph was released for publication on 12 June 1944. Note Ranger in right center, apparently using his middle finger to push cartridges into a M-1 carbine magazine. The carbine and a backpack frame are nearby. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
