Caption: "Colonel Arnold." "who commanded the Provincial troops sent against Quebec, through the wilderness of Canada and was wounded in storming that city, under General Montgomery." Benedict Arnold (1741-1801) was wounded in the assault on Quebec, 31 Dec. 1775, when Montgomery was killed. Size of original 12 15/16 x 9 15/16. Mezzotint, published by Thomas Hart, London, 26 March 1776. Like most of Hart's mezzotint portraits, this is a purely fanciful work.
