Caption: First Row, left to right: Isaac Chauncey, Jacob Jones, John Smith, Oliver Hazard Perry, Johns Ton Blakely, David Porter, Charles Morris, Stephen Decatur, Thomas Macdonough, and William Burrows (The portrait of Burrows is purely imaginative); no likeness of him exists as he never sat for a painting). Second row: left to right; John Trippe, James Biddle, Daniel Patterson, William Bainbridge, Lewis Warrington, Charles Steward, James Lawrence, Isaac Hull and Richard Somers. Artist has attempted to portray each men in the younger days, so that all would be approximately the same age, other than John Smith and Jacob Jones who were both older than the rest. He wanted to show them near to the "Boys" that Preble first Bitterly complained about ("I asked for men and they sent me boys"). Color print on back
