Description: Collection of photographs transferred from San Diego & North Island Naval Air Station. The images, circa 1961, relate to aircraft, ships, various events at the bases, spectators at NAS North Island air show, the Chuting Stars parachute team, and underwater dive teams. Aircraft include: preparing to take off, reproduction of the Curtiss A-1 seaplane in flight during an air show, the Blue Angels, and a F4B being flown by Grandpa Pettibone. Events include the dedication of Admiral Halsey Field in 1961, spectators and visitors at air show activities, and UDT demonstrations. Also included are images circa 1919-1925 at NAS San Diego and local areas, including: officers of the medical department, pilots and crew, staff of the communications department, aircraft take offs, various base buildings, seaplane beaching areas on North Island, flying over the hotel Del Coronado, Curtiss F8C-4 off Point Loma during the filming of “Hell Divers”, aircraft crews, Copies of photos from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library include FDR at a dedication ceremony at Camp Pendleton, September 25, 1942.
