NHF-142 ONI Brief 13170 – Port Arthur Collection

Office of Naval Intelligence Brief 13170, prepared by Intelligence Officer, Asiatic Fleet, 20 April 1920. 2 photos, plus 17 pages from a photo book, related to the Russo-Japanese War 1904-1906, showing ships and scenes at Port Arthur, Manchuria. Pages appear to have been taken from “The Russo-Japanese War, Taken by the Photographic Department of the Imperial Headquarters, published by K. Ogawa." Russian warships include Bayan, Retvisan, Pallada, Popada, Giliyak, Poltaba, Amur. Ships included a variety of operational and sunken vessels from both sides. General Nogi delivering funeral address at Shuishihying. Views of shoreline and facilities, and of Russian mines.
