Caption: Collection Photo # UA 472.06.01 "Happiness is a balloon -- Buenaventura, Colombia -- With a doll and a balloon, this child at San Vicente Orphanage here is temorarily at peace with her world. The toys were provided by the USS Sanctuary, here on a month-long goodwill visit. More importantly, the ship, through Project Handclasp, the Navy's people-to-people program, delivered food, medical supplies and clothing to the orphanage."
Description: Collection of photographs and negatives from USS Sanctuary (AH 17) and its humanitarian mission, Operation Handclasp, during September 1973. Photographs have in depth captions written by Navy public relations and show outreach to Colombia and Haiti. The Haiti photographs feature Jean-Claude Duvalier (aka - "Baby Doc").
