Interviews: Conducting Strategic Deterrence

Strategic deterrence is the sole mission of ballistic missile submarines. For more than 60 years, the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Force has deterred nuclear attacks by patrolling the world’s oceans with ballistic missiles. In these interviews, past and present submariners discuss what it means to carry out the mission of strategic deterrence.

This video was created for our long-term exhibit, Preserving Peace: The Navy’s Strategic Deterrence Program.
