Naval Mobile Construction Battalions
The Naval Mobile Construction Battalion is designed for dual construction and military support operations to build advanced base facilities in support of U.S. and allied military activities and to provide engineering support for Fleet Marine Units. The NMCB function also includes corresponding missions of repair and operations of facilities and line of communications during emergencies or contingency operations.
Each battalion has about 600 officers and enlisted personnel. Their complement includes Civil Engineer Corps officers, other staff officers, enlisted craftsmen from every construction trade and various fleet support ratings.
