Naval Construction Brigades were organized to coordinate the work of regiments and battalions in various areas. The officer in charge of the brigade was assigned command duties for all construction regiments, battalions and advance base depots, and was made directly responsible for the execution of approved construction projects in the sector. Twelve brigades had been formed by August 1945. No brigade organization was set up in the Atlantic areas because of the relatively small number of battalions assigned there.
