KIA Telegram from LBJ

11
Description: A President's most painful duty as Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces is writing to the next-of-kin of service members killed in action. This telegram and letter from President Lyndon B. Johnson were received by Karent Laws following the death of her husband on a combat mission over North Vietnam in April 1966. Lieutenant Richard Lee Laws was an F-8 Crusader pilot in Fighter Squadron (VF) 24 flying from the carrier Hancock (CVA 19).
