Description: A painting by Ted Wilbur depicts Captain Joe Foss shooting down a Japanese A6M Zero fighter in air-to-air combat over Guadalcanal in October 1942. Flying F4F Wildcats, Foss splashed shot down 26 enemy aircraft during the period October 1942-January 1943, the most kills by an aviator while in Marine Corps service. For his actions, Foss received the Medal of Honor.
