Spring, 1863 - Confederate General James Longstreet approached the Union held town of Suffolk, Virginia in order to tie up Union soldiers, gather provisions from the surrounding countryside, and take the town.   Union soldiers entrenched around the town and called for additional help from Union Admiral Samuel P. Lee to defend the river approach.  That help came in the form of former ferry boats commanded by a few up and coming naval officers.   Come, listen to Navy Museum's own Museum Tech Michael Galloway, and learn more about these young officers.
