Join us to honor the 50th anniversary of Prairie View A&M University’s NROTC unit as the first commissioned NROTC unit at a historically black college during a ceremony followed by a panel discussion that will dive into the topic of African Americans in the Navy, from the past to the present.

Ceremonial speakers are General Robert B. Neller, 37th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, and Rear Admiral Kelvin Dixon, USN (Ret.), Prairie View A&M University.

Panel speakers include Naval History and Heritage Command historians Dr. Regina Akers and Dr. John Sherwood as well as Prairie View A&M University alumni CAPT Frank Jackson, USN (Ret.) and MAJ Christopher Peterson, USMC (Ret.). This panel is moderated by Mark T. Weber, Curator and Managing Director at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy.
