330-PS-285-2:  USS Norton Sound (AV 11), Viking No.4, being shot on May 10, 1950. It ascended to an estimated distance of 106.4 statue miles after being fired from the ship.  It was the first time the Viking, largest U.S. Navy upper atmosphere research rocket was fired from a ship.   Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.
