Battle of Midway:  Japanese Personnel

Commanding the Japanese Combined Fleet was Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto who viewed Midway as a way to draw out and destroy the U.S. Pacific Fleet's aircraft carrier striking forces, which embarrased the Japanese with the Doolittle Raid on Japan in April 1942.  The Japanese Carrier Striking Force was e commanded by Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo.   The Midway Occupation Force was commanded by Vice Admiral Nobutake Kondo.  Also included in this photograph section are additional Japanese personnel who took part in the Battle of Midway.
