80-G-207839:  Bougainville Campaign, November 1943-August 1945.   Machine-gun bullets, outline grave of Marine paratrooper buried on the spot where he was killed on Hallzapoppin Ridge, Bougainville.  Near the crude cross marking, the grave is a flag and rifle.  A bullet-ridden helmet and mess gear are also on the grave.   Photograph released January 14, 1944.    U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.  (2016/06/21).
