Caption: Operation Torch, November 1942. Fire Control Blasted. A big shell from a U.S. warship plowed the furrow in the foreground, then richocheted through the top of this French fire control tower wrecking the equipment and killing the gunner officer. Fire of four 130 mm guns was directed from the building. The emplacements were located on Pointe De La Tour, about 2 ½ miles northwest of Safi, French Morocco.
