1945:  May 11:   Surrender of German U-boat, U-3008

German (Type XXI) U-boat, U-3008, surrendered to Allied forces in the Baltic on May 11, 1945.  The German submarine did not sink any Allied vessels during World War II.  Transferred to the U.S. Navy in August, the U-boat was refitted and served until 1948.  U-3008 was sunk in demolition tests in May 1954, raised and sold for scrap a year later.
