1942:  May 9:  Sinking of German U-boat, U-352

On May 9, 1942, U.S. Coast Guard cutter, USCGC Icarus (WPC-110), sank German (Type VIIC) U-boat, U-352, in the North Atlantic, south of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.  Thirty-three crewmembers survived.  The German submarine did not sink any Allied vessels during World War II.
