<p>80-G-79400: Air Attacks on German U-boats, WWII. German U-boat incident #3992, August 9, 1943. German submarine, U-664, sinking after an attack by Lieutenant Junior Grade G.G. Hogan, USNR. Forty-four survivors were picked up and taken on board USS Card (CVE-11). The crew are taking to life rafts as bomb scores near miss. The submarine was already damaged as can be seen from the oil slick in her wake.</p>
