1942: April 12:  Sinking of American merchant, SS Delvalle

German (Type IXC) U-boat, U-154, sank American merchant SS Delvalle south of Haiti on April 12, 1942.  Survivors were picked-up by U.S. Navy patrol aircraft and HMCS Prince Henry (F-70).  USS Inch (DE-146) and USS Frost (DE-144), utilizing depth charges, sank U-154 north-west of Madeira, Portugal, on July 3, 1944.   During war patrols, U-154 sank 11 ships and damaged two.
