U.S. Naval Air Station: Moutchic, France

Naval Air Station at Moutchic, France, was the first USN air base established in Europe during World War I. The flight and ground training station was commissioned on 31 August 1917 with Lieutenant John L. Callan in command. The first training flights began in September. The air station was disestablished in January 1919.
