Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy Personal Photograph Album.  This online album houses selective views pertaining to Fleet Admiral Leahy’s personal and naval service from circa 1905 until becoming Chief of Naval Operations in 1937, serving until August 1939.  In addition to serving as Governor of Puerto Rico and Ambassador to France after retirement, he was recalled to military service to be Chief of Staff to the Commander in Chief following U.S. entry into WWII.  In December 15, 1944, Leahy became the first Five-Star Admiral.       He died on July 20, 1959.  This on-line album is a kind digital donation from his heirs to the National Museum of the U.S. Navy in 2015.
