Tours
Please contact us after that day to schedule a tour.
Specialized tours are available upon advance request for all ages and groups including school groups, day camps, scout groups, reunion groups, Honor Flights, and Naval Commands. Tours of the museum can also focus on the needs of the group, ranging from basic naval history, women in the Navy, and World War II, etc..
Tours of the National Museum of the U.S. Navy
- Last from 1 to 11/2 hours.
- Covers the museum, artifacts, and how they tie to Navy History.
- Can be tailored to the group.
Walking Tour of the Washington Navy Yard
- Lasts from 11/2 to 2 hours.
- Don't miss this opportunity for a tour of some of the Washington Navy Yard and learn some of its interesting history.
Ordnance of the Washington Navy Yard
- Lasts from 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- Learn about the cannons on display in the Washington Navy Yard.
Staff Ride: Naval History of Washington, D.C.
- Lasts from 3 to 4 hours.
- Takes groups to historic locations around Washington D.C. with a Navy link, and will cover leadership and lessons learned in Naval History.
Sailor 360 Tour
- Lasts from 1 to 11/2 hours.
- Covers the museum, artifacts, and how they tie to Naval History.
- Can be tailored to the group.
Museum staff also supports living history programs, community festivals, STEM fairs, and civic groups by providing outreaches, activities, and lectures outside of the Historic Washington Navy Yard.
Lectures on various topics of Naval History occur throughout the year with events sent out in monthly emails and posted on the museum's Facebook page.
