June 4-6, 2022 is the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, the first major victory for the U.S. Navy in the Second World War. Each year, naval commands are required to commemorate this anniversary. To that end, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum (HRNM) is hosting a special presentation at Building C-9 on Naval Station Norfolk on Friday, 3 June 2022 at 0930.

HRNM Director of Education Laura Orr will speak about the sacrifice of the Sailors and Marines who fought the battle. Orr is also the co-author of Never Call Me a Hero, a book about World War II dive bomber pilot Jack “Dusty” Kleiss, the only pilot whose bombs hit three Japanese ships during the Battle of Midway.

The presentation will begin at 0930 and will last 45 minutes. All are welcome to attend this free presentation, but reservations are required. Additionally, access to Naval Station Norfolk is required for this presentation.

To reserve space for you or your command, email Matthew Headrick at matthew.d.headrick4.civ@us.navy.mil or call 757-322-3107. We look forward to seeing you there!
