The Battleship Wisconsin is currently being operated by the City of Norfolk and Nauticus. However, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum is continuing to coordinate military ceremonies such as reenlistments, retirements, and changes of command on the ship. The museum gallery is also available.
For these types of ceremonies, the ship and space in the museum is available at no charge. For other ceremonies such as veterans' memorials and other types of special events not listed above to be held aboard Wisconsin, please contact Nauticus' special events manager at 757-664-1042.
Contact the museum at 757-322-3106 and ask for the ceremonies coordinator.
THE FOLLOWING ARE GUIDELINES FOR CEREMONIES:
Ceremonies can be done inside the museum. We recommend the Jamestown Expo exhibit area. However, the maximum capacity for this area is 20 people.
Note that there will be occasions during which this area will not be available due to temporary exhibits. During such times, the Battle of Hampton Roads exhibit area is the most likely alternative. Click here to see pictures of the exhibit spaces.
Some ceremonies have been held outside, adjacent to Nauticus in Town Point Park. This area is not under the control of Nauticus nor the museum.
Food & Drink
No food, drink, gum, or smoking are allowed within the museum or on the battleship. Unfortunately, we do not provide a reception area, however, Nauticus catering and reception areas are available for a fee. For more Nauticus special events information, call 757-664-1042.
Paid parking is available directly across from Nauticus. There is no parking out in the front of Nauticus or on the pier next to the battleship except for active duty flag officers.
Ceremony participants are required to confirm their ceremony reservations three days in advance for ceremonies not requiring set-ups such as reenlistments. Participants are required to confirm their reservations 30 days in advance for ceremonies requiring set-up services such as retirements, commissionings, and other large bookings.
All active duty Navy personnel participating in a ceremony should be advised that the NWU's are not allowed.
Please contact the military ceremony coordinator as soon as possible for cancellations! Extending this courtesy not only helps our staff tremendously, but also frees up the time slot for others.
