The 75th Anniversary Battle of Midway Commemorative Event

The U.S. Navy in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service presented a live broadcast, June 5, of the 75th anniversary signature Midway commemorative event; a ceremony hosted aboard the Museum Ship USS Midway in San Diego, with a drop-in from the Midway Atoll. The guest speaker at the San Diego ceremony was Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson. The atoll part of the ceremony featured an introduction from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Acting Director Jim Kurth, remarks from Naval History and Heritage Command Director Sam Cox (Rear Adm. USN, Ret.), a wreath-laying with bugler and taps, a moment of silence, and a performance of the first stanza of "Eternal Father."
