VFA-11 Squadron History

Lineage for VFA-11: Established as VF-43 on 1 September 1950; VF-43 redesignated VF-11 on 16 February 1959; VF-11 redesignated VFA-11 on 18 October 2005 (Note: When VF-43 was redesignated VF-11 on 16 February 1959 the squadron adopted the "Red Ripper" insignia that had been used by the former VF-11. However, other than the use of the insignia, there is no connection between the former VF-11 and the current VFA-11).
