Photographs of Hawaii collected by Admiral William R. Furlong during his tenure as Commandant of the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard from 1942-1946. Photos date from the late 1930s to circa 1946 and are primarily of salvage operations at Pearl Harbor after the 7 December 1941 attack by the Japanese. There are some photos of the attack, including images captured from the Japanese. Also included are photos taken during visits by Eleanor Roosevelt, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, and Bob Hope.
