Willapa Bay

A bay off the coast of Washington state.

Willapa Bay (CVE-109), a Commencement Bay-class escort carrier, was laid down on 10 January 1944 at Tacoma, Wash., by the Todd-Pacific Shipyards, Inc. However, prior to her launching, the carrier was renamed Cape Gloucester (q.v.) on 26 April 1944.
