Toiler (ARS-47)

1945

On 3 May 1944, the name Toiler was assigned to ARS-47, a Diver-class salvage vessel slated to be built at Napa, Calif., by the Basalt Rock Co., but the contract for construction of that ship was cancelled on 12 August 1945, three days after the detonation of an atomic bomb over the port city of Nagasaki, Japan, and just two days after the empire of Japan accepted the terms of the Potsdam Declaration that led to Japan's surrender on 2 September 1945.
