A city in Alabama whose name is derived from an Indian word meaning "great swamp."

Opelika (YTB-798) was laid down 23 February 1968 by the Marinette Marine Corp., Marinette, Wise.; launched 21 August 1968; and delivered to the Navy 30 January 1968 for service at the Naval Station, Subic Bay, Philippines. She has continued busy operations there into 1970.
