Needlefish
Any of a family of voracious elongate teleost fishes resembling, but not related to, the fresh-water gars.
The name Needlefish was assigned to the submarine SS-379 on 23 August 1942, but construction was cancelled 29 July 1944, before she was laid down.
The name Needlefish was assigned to the submarine SS-493 on 26 January 1945, however, her construction was cancelled 12 August 1945 before she was laid down.
