LTC John U.D. Page (T-AK-4543)

2000–

The first U.S. Navy ship named for John Upshur Dennis Page, U.S. Army (8 February 1904-11 December 1950) who received the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War.

LTC John U. D. Page (T-AK-4553) was built by Daewoo Ship Building and Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd., in Koje, South Korea, in 1985 as MV American Utah; delivered for commercial service to the United States Line, and operated under various additional names including Irene D., Utah and Newark Bay. Acquired by Maersk Lines Ltd. (MLL) of Norfolk, Va., for charter to the Military Sealift Command (MSC); chartered by the Navy in October 2000 from Maersk Lines Ltd., under a five-year charter to MSC; converted for military service at Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Norfolk, Va.; renamed LTC John U. D. Page on 21 February 2001; placed in service on 1 March 2001; LTC John U. D. Page; chartered by MSC, as part of the U.S. Navy Ship Forces on 18 July 2006.
