LST-1019 was laid down on 31 March 1944 at Quincy, Mass., by the Bethlehem Steel Co.; launched on 6 May 1944; and commissioned on 17 May 1944, Lt. Comdr. Norman C. Ross, USNR, in command.
During World War II, LST-1019 was assigned to the European theater and participated in the invasion of southern France in August and September 1944. Later transferred to the Asiatic-Pacific theater, she engaged in the assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto in May and June 1945. Following the war, she performed occupation duty in the Far East until early April 1946. She returned to the United States and was decommissioned on 30 July 1946 and struck from the Navy list on 25 September that same year. On 28 June 1948, the ship was sold to the Humble Oil & Refining Co., Houston, Tex., for operation.
LST-1019 earned two battle stars for World War II service.
