Joyance (S. P. 72), a steam yacht built in 1907 by Robert Jacobs, City Island, N.Y., was purchased by the Navy from William H. Childs of New York City in May 1917; and commissioned 20 July 1917, Boatswain Martin Grady, USNRF, in command.
Joyance was assigned to the 3d Naval District as a harbor patrol boat, and operated in New York harbor and Long Island Sound. She decommissioned 6 May 1919 and was sold 5 August 1919 to Reinhard Hall at Brooklyn.
