Green Island (YFB-32)

1942–1945

An island at the head of Blue Hill Bay, Maine, across from Mount Desert Island.

The wooden steam ferryboat Aucocisco was built in 1897 at South Portland, Maine, by South Portland Shipbuilding Co., and was acquired on 3 April 1942 from Casco Bay Lines, Inc., of Portland. She was placed in service in the First Naval District on 5 May 1942 at Portland, designated as a ferryboat, YFB-32, and renamed Green Island.

Used to transport fleet liberty parties in Casco Bay, Maine, Green Island continued in service until returned to her former owner on 18 December 1945. Her name was stricken from the Navy Register on 20 March 1946. She continued to serve as Aucocisco until 1952-1953.
