Naval History and Heritage Command

Dallas (CA-150), projected as the third Newport News (CA-148)-class heavy cruiser, was to have been built at Camden, N,J., by the New York Shipbuilding Corp., but her construction was canceled on 28 March 1945 prior to her keel-laying. The classification of CA-150 was changed to CA-140 three days later, on 31 March 1945.
