USS Missouri (BB-63) in 1950-55

This page features overall views of USS Missouri taken from 1950 until the ship decommissioned in February 1955.

During these years, Missouri was part of the Atlantic Fleet. However, she made two Korean War combat tours, one in 1950-51 and another in 1952-53, serving as Seventh Fleet flagship on both occasions and providing major caliber gunfire support to United Nations forces. She was also employed as a training ship for Naval Academy Midshipmen, carrying them on a number of visits to European ports.

In August 1954, Missouri was transferred to the Pacific Coast to be inactivated. She decommissioned on 26 February 1955 at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington, where she remained in reserve for the next three decades.

Additional 1950-55 overall views of Missouri will be found in the pages:
USS Missouri, Gunfire and Gunnery after 1945; and
USS Missouri, Grounding in January 1950.
