USS Hist (1898-1911)

USS Hist, a 472-ton yacht, was built for private use at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1895. Purchased in April 1898 for use in the Spanish-American War, she was active in Cuban waters during that conflict and participated in the Battle of Santiago on 3 June 1898. Following the war, Hist served along the U.S. Atlantic coast and in the Caribbean area until July 1911, when she was decommissioned. She was sold in November 1911.

This page features several views of USS Hist that have been cross-referenced from Spanish-American War coverage.

If higher resolution reproductions than these digital images are desired, see "How to Obtain Photographic Reproductions."
